Author's Biography

R.G. Begora says, “I lived through a lot of what’s in this novel; being a volunteer was one of the biggest accomplishments of my lifetime. I was honored and proud to be part of that brotherhood. I really dug deep into the insides of a volunteer department to write this novel. If I were to choose a character in the book that most exemplifies my outlook, it would have to be Franken. He sees humor in just about everything he does, just as I do.”

R.G. Begora was a volunteer firefighter for almost ten years.  He worked his way through the system as a firefighter, an Emergency Medical Technician, EMS officer, Captain and finally retired as an Asst Chief.  He is a State of Illinois certified firefighter III, the highest level of certification a firefighter can obtain. 

Begora has been in college admissions for over 22 years. He currently holds a MBA with a project management concentration. In the past, he has been a technical speaker and has taught techniques of Microsoft Office products.  His unique style and his use of humor have made him a much sought after presenter. He is currently the Director of Admissions for a small, technical college located in San Diego.

Begora is a new transplant to San Diego and previously lived in Colorado Springs. With his wife Cathy, they raised two children in the Chicago area and have been married for over 37 years. The couple enjoys camping, gold panning, fly fishing and hiking as part of their very active lifestyle.
